It is black practically all the time. Once it was white, and that case was analyzed by media. There is a kind of plant overhere, it throw the waste into the river.

Citizens of Saint Petersburg have been worried about the problem of "color river" for 3 years. There is a plant near the river producing polyethylene. In 2016 one criminal case was initiated by the committee of nature management for company "Ecoprom". It was found out that the concentration of wide range of chemical substances exceeded.
It is not the only case of horrible chemical pollution in Saint Petersburg. For opinion of Russian eco-volunteers, there are so many situations, сonnected with color rivers and lakes, located in Leningrad Oblast. They consider that the water from open reservoirs is dangerous not only for drinking, but for swimming too.

Complex equipment chemical analytical complex allows for the identification of small molecules of different nature, trace elements and "heavy metal", to carry out research of biological components and morphological structures, including biological contamination.
Bioelectronic complex is equipped with marine and freshwater aquariums for extended periods of aquatic organisms. The complex has:

  • polar aquarium (water temperature from 4 to 12 °C);
  • moderate aquarium (water temperature 16 to 21 °C);
  • tropical aquarium (water temperature between 22 and 28 °C).
The main scientific results of this researh:

1. water in open reservoirs of the sity and region contains 10-45 mg/l of nitrates which is normal for ecological situation - these reservoirs are purified by the system of Vodocanal;

2. the water in springs of Leningrad Oblast contains 200-250 mg/l which is dangerous for human health
